A warm welcome to you

I’m Kathryn Mitchell and I’m an executive coach and mentor.

I work with executives and leaders from all over the world  helping them to create long-lasting, highly effective, personal leadership strategies and habits that they can apply to all areas of their life

I’ve worked with Kathryn over two years and the difference is noticeable to all. She’s helped me with long term objectives and a healthy amount of small term surprises! I always look forward to our sessions and her follow ups are always thoughtful and digestible. Everyone deserves a Kathryn coach!

I must confess I came to coaching and all the connotations that surround it with a great deal of negativity and scepticism. After my first session with Kathryn that perception was flipped on its head. Kathryn has an energy and perceptive engagement that allows you to dig deeper, questioning things that previously you wouldn't have done. I have taken a great deal from the day-to-day strategies Kathryn has imparted that help me to be a better Sales Leader and hopefully person. I would recommend Kathryn to almost anyone looking to seek improvement in their leadership position or simply trying to just do better in their given role.

Fundamentally, I help executives to become more effective leaders.

This sounds pretty straightforward…but what really sits behind that?

Well, have you found that as the responsibilities grow in your role so do the pressures of feeling like you need to get things right? Maybe it’s got harder to reveal your weaknesses? Maybe you have lost touch with a who you really are? And maybe you think you’ll get rumbled for not being good enough?

That’s where I come in.

I support and encourage leaders to identify and take small, courageous steps towards their best self. This benefits their relationships professionally and personally. The result kick starts them to becoming more inspiring and positively impactful leaders. The kick-starting is important. The leadership learning journey goes on far longer than our coaching, but we can get the foundations in place for you to continue developing.

What can you expect from working with me?

1) Support, encouragement and challenge
2) I love to ask curious questions that really get you thinking
3) It’s my job to create a session where you can show up, be who you are and say what you want (within ethical boundaries) with the focus of honing your leadership skills.
4) You own the agenda. Sometimes you might decide you want to work on your long-term goals or sometimes you might spend the session working on an issue that you are facing right now. You decide.

Coaching with me doesn’t always need to be about a series of questions. Sometimes I know you want someone to dive in and answer the tough questions with you or share thoughts and ideas. This means, that when you want it, there will be a blend of coaching and mentoring.

Also, can we have some fun along the way too, please?

A little bit about me

Why do I coach? I love coaching and it’s a privilege to work with clients whilst they navigate the world of leadership. I want to help people to not only understand themselves better but to also build better connections with others socially and professionally. I want to help leaders to develop, long-term, sustainable leadership skills that support them both professionally and personally.

What’s my background? I began my career in PR and then went on to work in a variety of senior roles in the IT sector including sales management, business transformation, graduate scheme manager, and Head of Marketing. The problem was, was that I had fallen in love with coaching, so in 2013 I returned to University to study for my certificate in Coaching and Mentoring and set up my own business. Since then I have worked as an executive coach to a wide variety of leaders across many industries including, energy, recruitment, I.T, construction, pharmaceutical, healthcare, start up’s, legal, media, and education.

Am I a qualified coach? I have a master’s certificate in coaching and mentoring from Oxford Brookes University. I am a certified coach with the Association of Coaching. I am certified in SDI (Strengths Deployment Inventory) and a suite of BeTalent accreditations including Psychological Safety, Inspiring Leadership, Culture Fit, and Teams. I have a certificate in MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction). I am a trained Mindfulness teacher. I am a certified Dryy coach supporting people to take tactical breaks from alcohol or to stop alcohol completely.  I am an active member of the Association of Coaching and regularly attend their learning events to develop my coaching capability. I also have a BA (Hons) degree in Corporate Communication.

The company I was working for, was looking to arrange coaching sessions for some of the leadership team and I am so thrilled that they found Kathryn. Her sessions were interesting, challenging and incredibly helpful. The tools, behaviours and phrases I learned during the coaching have proven to be of great value and gave me the confidence and self-belief to push myself further. I learnt a great deal about what I could do to improve my working life and really felt like I was able to take back control of my career. I would recommend Kathryn as a coach and mentor to anyone who is looking to develop and become a positive leader.

I can honestly say that I have absolutely loved every minute of my coaching sessions with Kathryn. I was introduced to her through an initiative at work, and if I am honest, I was unsure as to whether or not it would be beneficial. I couldn’t have got it more wrong. Not only has she helped me transition into a new role, but she has helped me understand how I can be the best that I can be in that role. Each and every session got better and better, and I can see the impact and change that it has had on me in the way that I go about my business. I cannot recommend Kathryn highly enough and I’m really excited to continue working with her.

Start here

Prior to us embarking on a coaching journey together it’s important that we have a virtual coaching chemistry session. This is a 30min ‘get to know you’ session. It’s for me to understand what has brought you coaching and why now. It’s for you to learn a bit more about me and to see if you feel that I could be a good chemistry match for you. I often think it’s a bit like going to view a house… you know very quickly if the coach is the right person for you.

I work globally with clients and depending on location there could be a blend of face-to-face and virtual sessions. I do recommend that clients consider having six sessions at 3-week intervals. It’s important to note that coaching does need your commitment. You will need to practice and play with the learning in between sessions. The coaching is the catalyst, but your personal commitment to driving change is what will make the difference. My ask is that you always consider whether the timing is right for you to undertake the coaching.
